José Luis Peiró Reig (*1967), born in Alfauir (Valencia) and now residing in Tenerife, began his musical training at the age of 14 as a trombonist with the Rotovense Musical de Rótova. At 18, he moved to Burgos, where he performed with the military band of the Government Command. In 1992, he completed his training as a trombone teacher, and in 1993 he won, through a public competition, a position as a non-commissioned musician in the Spanish Military Music Corps. Since then, he has been assigned to the band of the Headquarters of the Canary Islands Command (Mando de Canarias) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Since 2020, he has been studying composition with José Alberto Pina and has written numerous procession marches, pasodobles, and symphonic works that are performed throughout Spain. He has received ten composition awards and won first prize at the National Wind Band Competition of Dosbarrios (Toledo) with the Agrupación Cultural San Sebastián de Tejina.

Peiró Reig has attended conducting courses with renowned teachers such as José Rafael Pascual Vilaplana, Jan Cober, Michele Carulli, Henrie Adams, and Crescencio Díaz de Felipe. In 2016, his pasodoble A Orillas del Duero was premiered at the Concurso Internacional de Bandas D’Ouro in Porto. He has also conducted various wind bands in Tenerife and served as principal conductor of the Symphonic Band of the Tenerife Wind Music Association in 2005/2006.

His work La Sombra del Peregrino was selected as the compulsory piece for the Certamen Internacional de Bandas de Música Villa de Aranda del Duero 2024. Since 2025, José Luis Peiró Reig has been a composer with Symphonic Dimensions Publishing.
