Björn Vüllgraf's "Welcome to the World" was created in 1994, initially as a simple sketch for piano. The occasion was the birth of his first niece—this song was dedicated to her from the very beginning. The music remained in a drawer for many years until the desire grew to turn it into a complete work for symphonic wind orchestra. The result was an emotional, grooving composition with solo alto saxophone that sounds warm, soulful, and at the same time hopeful. The work is the result of a long, artistic maturation process—a musical gesture of welcome to life.
