Saxpack was composed by Otto M. Schwarz to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Vienna Police Band . One of Austria's most distinguished saxophonists, Gert Kolaja , plays in this professional orchestra.

The work is conceived as a fully composed crime thriller for wind orchestra – with musical scenes ranging from chases to " Vienna by Night" . Schwarz's aim was to expand the genre of wind orchestra literature with new sonic and stylistic aspects.

Saxpack has a modern style and offers a variety of playing techniques for the saxophone :
- Switching between alto and soprano saxophone
- Improvisational passages
- Expressive solos

A piece that not only challenges and delights saxophonists , but also brings joy to the orchestra and the audience alike.
