Anton Bruckner – Quadrille
(Arrangement for wind orchestra by Andreas Ziegelbäck)
September 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Anton Bruckner , one of Austria's most important composers and organists. While many of his works have long since found a permanent place in the wind orchestra repertoire, the Quadrille , originally composed for piano duet, has so far been left out.
Andreas Ziegelbäck 's arrangement now closes this gap. Inspired by the original, it transfers the work's charming, dance-like character into a new sonic dimension. The six movements can be performed individually, but unfold their full effect as a coherent cycle.
This work enriches the Bruckner repertoire for wind orchestra with a previously rarely performed facet – a musical gem that combines tradition and new perspectives.
