Panorama from the ballet “Sleeping Beauty”
The ballet suite "Sleeping Beauty" by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky premiered in St. Petersburg in 1890. To this day , "Sleeping Beauty" remains one of the most popular ballets and is an integral part of the classical repertoire.
The panorama from Act 2 depicts the journey of the young Prince Désiré and the Lilac Fairy through an enchanted forest to his beloved Aurora, whom he wishes to marry. Tchaikovsky imbues this scene with a special magic through wondrous, mysterious sounds.
