JET STREAM - A short musical story about a rapid weather phenomenon - Concert Band Set

"Jet Stream" is a composition for small wind orchestra dedicated to the fascinating natural phenomenon of the strong wind of the same name. The jet stream – a powerful high-altitude wind that circulates the globe at an altitude of around fifteen kilometers at speeds of up to 540 km/h – decisively shapes our weather and climate by separating warm and cold air masses.

Musically, the work captures the dynamics and energy of these invisible air currents. A special effect is created by the use of a so-called howling tube in the percussion, which symbolizes the roar of the wind. The clear, yet dramatic tonal language makes "Jet Stream" a striking musical representation of the forces of nature—and at the same time a powerful appeal for responsible treatment of our environment.

Thanks to the small instrumentation, the work is ideal for wind instrument classes and smaller ensembles.
