"In the Air" by Gerald Oswald is a lively and dynamic composition that aims less to tell a story and more to convey a state of cheerfulness and lightheartedness. The mischievous and playful motifs make the notes dance, creating an atmosphere of joy, lightheartedness, and positive energy—like a gentle breeze, like a fresh wind blowing through the orchestra.
Gerald Oswald , born in 1968 in Groß-St. Florian, studied trumpeter at the Johann Joseph Fux Conservatory and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He later studied conducting and composition with Franz Cibulka in Graz and Thomas Doss in Vienna, among others, and furthered his knowledge at the Leonding Music School and the C. Monteverdi Conservatory in Bolzano. Today, his works for wind orchestra are part of the international repertoire and are successfully performed worldwide.
