Susanne Zabl, one of the few female composers in the field of symphonic wind music, creates a sonic picture of urban densification with Steel Thunder. Rhythmic motifs, metallic sounds, and the use of steel drums evoke the soundscape of a large construction site – loud, restless, and powerful.

Amidst hammering and rumbling, a quiet, contemplative moment unfolds: a vibraphone solo recalls the nature that had to yield to this progress. But the calm does not last – the machines awaken again, and the relentless rhythm of change returns.
