1805 - A Towns Tale (Rental)
A fateful autumn day in 1805. The morning mists hang heavily over the vast field near Dürnstein. The captain's tent and several smaller tents still seem uninhabited and in a deep sleep. The fireplaces are only steaming and glowing briefly in the darkness of dawn. A figure creeps past the main tent. It is Phillipe, a soldier of Napoleon's troops, who leaves his camp early to warn Mina, his beloved, and the other inhabitants of the city of Krems about the planned attack.
He flees through the sleepy landscape of the Wachau. Above the Danube, Phillipe finally reaches a tavern where he hopes for help. But the moment the initially incredulous landlady and her companion Franzl realize the gravity of the situation, two French soldiers discover the deserter Phillipe.
It is already noon and the children are enjoying the warm autumn day in the vineyards near Krems. Marie, a twelve-year-old girl, is weaving a wreath above the city. A harmonious lightness fills the scene until an old and harried man surprises her. It is the tavern's helper, exhausted, trying to bring Phillipe's message to the city.
Marie runs into the city, past the everyday hustle and bustle, straight to a church, where she meets Nana, the good old soul of the city. The alarm bells are rung, the news spreads rapidly, and the townspeople gather to discuss the situation. But is it already too late?
Phillipe, who was able to free himself from his predicament with the help of eyewitnesses present, reaches the city in the evening, only to find it already plundered. Phillipe sets off to find Mina, for he still refuses to believe her dead.
